A dairy pasture app built around the dairy round

On a dairy platform, pasture is the cheapest feed you have — and the hardest to see. Pasture Ai puts cover, quality and a feed budget on your phone so the rotation runs on numbers.

Feed the cows from the wedge, not the gut feel

Dairy rotations move fast. Knowing average cover, growth rate and demand tells you whether the round speeds up, slows down, or needs supplement — and by how much. Pasture Ai builds that picture from a walk of paddock photos.

Each assessment returns pasture cover in kgDM/ha alongside MJME and crude protein, the figures that matter when you are balancing a milking herd. High-protein, high-energy paddocks get allocated where they pay; lower-quality paddocks fill the gaps.

Spring surpluses and autumn deficits, seen early

The feed wedge makes a spring surplus visible days before it is on top of you — paddocks to skip for silage stand out at the top of the wedge. In autumn, the same view shows the deficit early enough to extend the round with supplement while it is still cheap to do.

The built-in feed budget calculator uses the MJME from your own assessments to work out days of feed ahead and the area to allocate per day.

One account for the whole dairy team

Sharemilkers, managers and staff all walk the same farm. With Pasture Ai everyone assesses to the same method and every reading lands in the same paddock history — no chasing the one notebook or the one phone with the numbers.

What dairy farms use it for

  • Weekly farm walks with cover and quality per paddock
  • Feed wedge to set grazing order and spot silage paddocks
  • MJME from your own pasture feeding straight into the feed budget
  • Round length and area-per-day calculations
  • Automatic history for every paddock — exportable anytime
  • iOS, Android and web app on one account

Frequently asked questions

Is Pasture Ai only for dairy farms?

No — it works for any grazed pasture. But the wedge, feed budget and MJME readings are particularly suited to dairy rotations where allocation decisions happen daily.

How does it help with supplement decisions?

The feed wedge and feed budget show demand versus supply. When cover and growth fall short of what the herd needs, you can see the gap in kilograms of dry matter and respond with supplement or a slower round before production drops.

Can multiple staff do the farm walk?

Yes. Everyone on the account can assess paddocks from their own phone, and readings share one paddock history.

Does it work in Australia as well as New Zealand?

Yes. The app is used on grazing farms across New Zealand and Australia, with calibration settings for grazing type and season.
